thinking, speaking, pushing, changing, challenging, debating, questioning, educating, loving, learning... in all the ways that make people think, make me grow and bring light into this world...
What does "black" mean to you?
it's the kink of my hair, the tone to my skin, my walk, my talk, my swagger ~ the light in my children's eyes when they speak of longing for africa...
What does "girl" mean to you?
not the webster definition... more powerful than simple words...
a freedom to create, to see beauty in simple things, to love unreservedly, to find peace in chaos... feminine, and astute, and open...
What kind of quirky things do you like to do?
most of what i do is quirky!
How do you embrace your quirky?
i don't try to be anyone or anything but who and what i am.
What does your ideal quirky black girl world look like?
our daughters would see themselves as powerful and able, and not because they are beautiful on the outside... our sons would open doors and respect all life, our lovers would cherish us from the tops of our held-high heads to the tips of our perfect toes... we would love and worship our hips, our lips, our noses, our hair... we would greet each other as "sistah"...
