Profile Information

When did you realize you were a quirky black girl?
When I woke up in the morning.
What does "quirky" mean to you?
Quirky: Defining your own standards and living by them.
What does "black" mean to you?
Black is my culture. Brown is my skin color.
I'm black and I'm proud. I am my culture. My culture reflects me.
What does "girl" mean to you?
Without being trapped in gender roles and stereotypes,

I am what the Creator intended for me to be.
What kind of quirky things do you like to do?
watch Star Trek
obsess over Law and Order SVU
paint.
wake up in the morning spitting out lines of poetry that I dreamed.
hoard books. lots of them.
draw other people's artworks.
walk around with rollers STILL in my hair. *you say ghetto, i say eccentric, ahhahah*
How do you embrace your quirky?
I try my hardest to silence the outside talk and live for me.
You only get one life.
What does your ideal quirky black girl world look like?
She looks like any black girl who is proud to be who she is. Who is proud to live unafraid. Who loves herself and loves others. Accepts them for their eccentricities, just as she accepts her own.
How did you hear about QBG?
grapevines do talk.

miss toni aka Luna has a blog

I've been keeping track of my most recent hair journeys and I'd like to engage in conversation with my fellow QBGs about hair and its affect on our culture, lifestyles, etc. There is nothing new under the sun and so I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking to occur but I STILL love hearing what other women have to say.
