When did you realize you were a quirky black girl?
I don't even remember when I didn't think I was a quirky black girl. I started loving being a quirky black girl in the 10th grade. I wrote a poem about it, called "I am and Who are You?" And read it aloud in English class
What does "quirky" mean to you?
Being myself. Singing when I want to sing. Dancing when I want to dance. Shouting when I want to shout. Saying what I believe even if it's not popular.
What does "black" mean to you?
Me. Love. Spirituality. Living history. Creating futures. Fighting for what's right.
What does "girl" mean to you?
Girl-- makes me think of being young and being excited to just be. Living with a sense of adventure and wonder.
What kind of quirky things do you like to do?
I like to read...science fiction. I laugh really loud, sometimes at my own jokes. I believe in love. I jump up and down when I get excited. I like to give hugs. I smile at strangers.
How do you embrace your quirky?
give thanks for being able to be here and be me
What does your ideal quirky black girl world look like?
It would be full of unique individuals realizing that we are all one, sharing, working and loving together.
