When did you realize you were a quirky black girl?
It happens about 3 or 4 times every day.
What does "quirky" mean to you?
Quirky, like queer and key, different and priceless, turning and open.
What does "black" mean to you?
Black, not be lack but black one word shot off the tongue like blap, bam, black. black means everything, birthing and burning a new world every time.
What does "girl" mean to you?
Girl, like the curl in a hand turning towards itself to snap, write, hold or emphasize.
What kind of quirky things do you like to do?
Dressing room vandalism, everyday costumes, comic books and this ongoing art project called lex.
How do you embrace your quirky?
Hanging out with you, dancing in front of the mirror. Waking up early to talk with Audre Lorde.
What does your ideal quirky black girl world look like?
Your face, open and waiting and ready and loving.

hey lex-- the family reunion was great, was very successful. am glad it is over except i found out we are now planning for sept. 2010...i know i know-seems like this family reuniting will be a lifelong activity-which is fine...but not stressed like before the reunion went off like a hitch.

So ... i do this funny thing where I only log into qbg periodically, go crazy and message all these people, and then don't go on for an extended period of time. This being said, I JUST read your post about doing a workshop and I didn't know you were in NY for all of July.
